5.25" PC Floppy Drives

The Applesauce works with most PC floppy drives, but requires the PC Drive Cable kit. The cable in this kit is unique to Applesauce, so best to just buy it.

⚠️ The cable has two connectors, but only connect one drive at a time!

Drives can be configured to be either Drive 1 or Drive 2—the Applesauce will try both. The drive should also be configured for a non-twisted cable.

Most PC drives work at 300 RPM for low-density disks and/or 360 RPM for high-density disks. If the drive supports both, it is best to allow the Applesauce to control the speed. This way the client software can analyze the flux timings to figure out at which speed the disk was written, then switch to the correct speed for imaging.

⚠️ Always update the Drive Configuration after changing jumpers!
